There are weeks when the workshop buzzes a little louder than usual… and then there are those when a little gem comes along and brightens everything up. These past few days, a wonderful surprise has landed in our hands: the new issue of Cycle Magazine , with a superb article by Silvi De Almeida , featuring Atelier Velocidade in a way we won't soon forget.

The first house

Reading these lines is almost like watching a film you know by heart: the one that tells the story of how Portugal found its place in the great family of adventure cycling. A story driven by passionate women and men, who shape projects “by themselves, for themselves, and for all those who would like to join them”.

And somewhere in the midst of this inspiring movement, our workshop appears — humbly, but with a huge smile.

This wink inevitably brings back memories. The endless tracks of Gravel Birds , the encounters , the landscapes that remain imprinted deep in the eyes… These stories that we have shared since the creation of Velocidade are all part of the same thread: that of travel, craftsmanship and the desire to do things with heart .

And the second house

Because in the end, Velocidade is this: a workshop born from an old sewing machine, a passion for design, a deep love for nature, and a country — or rather two — that inspire us every day.

The Ariège mountains beneath our wheels. The scent of pine and eucalyptus on the Portuguese tracks. The sound of the machines turning, point after point. Everything comes together.

So yes, seeing our name in the pages of a French magazine that describes the social landscape of cycling in Portugal so well… it touches the heart.

And if this article inspires you to cycle in Portugal, to meet the welcoming and warm people who make this country so unique… rush to your newsagent and let yourself be swept away. A huge thank you to Silvi De Almeida and Cycle Magazine for this spotlight, which makes me even more eager to continue the adventure, bag after bag, story after story.

Velocidade is the feeling of freedom given by speed, the wind that makes your eyes water, the sound of the air blowing near your ears, a little taste of adrenaline that makes you feel good.

RICARDO VIEIRA - FOUNDER/DESIGNER/FASHIONIST

Ricardo has long been thinking about reducing his environmental impact, whether through his cycling and running, or in his daily life, having decided to become a vegetarian over 20 years ago. Curious and passionate, he began creating and making his first objects when his grandfather gave him a sewing machine for his 17th birthday, and since then, he has dedicated himself to creating, repairing, and making things with the same energy and in the same direction: simplicity and local production. Convinced that cycling is the ultimate low-carbon solution for everyday travel, Ricardo decided to create Velocidade and embarked on designing and crafting handmade bags using entirely artisanal methods.
