There are dreams that are born gently, almost silently, without us yet knowing that they will change a life. Velocidade is one of those. Before it became a workshop, a brand, or even a project, it was just a slightly crazy idea that was close to my heart: to make saddlebags by hand, with my tools, my gestures, my desire, in a small corner of Mirepoix.

I didn't know if it would work. I didn't know where it would lead. I only knew that I loved sewing as much as I loved riding, and that if these two passions could one day come together, then perhaps something beautiful could be born.
🎉 Velocidade is celebrating its 5th anniversary!
Originally, Velocidade was a slightly crazy dream: to make saddlebags entirely by hand, in a small workshop in Mirepoix . It all started as an experiment, an unexpected transition between my work as a photographer and that of a tailor—a skill I had already mastered since my twenties, after three years of studying costume design for the performing arts. A real gamble. We didn't really know where it would lead. And here we are, five years later, Velocidade is celebrating its 5th anniversary !
In the beginning, there were only two machines, found somewhere between the Pyrenees and Bordeaux. Today, the workshop has six, each with its own specific functions, allowing for greater precision, more optimization, and even more enjoyment in the creative process. And then there was the invaluable support of the Occitanie Region: strong recognition of our artisanal expertise and a real boost to keep moving forward.
Velocidade never aspired to be a large workshop. The idea has always been to do things with care, passion, and sincerity, to create durable, useful, and beautiful panniers designed for those who truly ride. Made in France , handcrafted from start to finish, right here in our workshop.
These five years have seen clients become friends, bags travel through countries, mountain passes and improbable paths, hours spent perfecting a detail of sewing, doubts, of course, and this immense joy of seeing each creation find its way.

RICARDO VIEIRA - FOUNDER/DESIGNER/FASHIONIST
Ricardo has long been thinking about reducing his environmental impact, whether through his cycling and running, or in his daily life, having decided to become a vegetarian over 20 years ago. Curious and passionate, he began creating and making his first objects when his grandfather gave him a sewing machine for his 17th birthday, and since then, he has dedicated himself to creating, repairing, and making things with the same energy and in the same direction: simplicity and local production. Convinced that cycling is the ultimate low-carbon solution for everyday travel, Ricardo decided to create Velocidade and embarked on designing and crafting handmade bags using entirely artisanal methods.
