The first step in making handmade bike bags is the selection of materials. At Velocidade we have chosen durable and resistant materials or waterproof technical fabrics. The choice of materials is crucial because it determines the durability and resistance of the bags to various weather conditions and wear.
The design phase is essential to create bags that are both functional and aesthetic. We draw sketches and make prototypes to ensure that the bags meet the needs of cyclists. The size, shape and compartments are carefully planned to maximize storage capacity while maintaining optimal balance on the bike.
Once the design is finalized, the materials are cut into individual pieces according to precise templates. This step requires great precision to avoid material loss and ensure perfect assembly afterwards. We use manual cutting tools or specialized machines to obtain clean and regular cuts.
Assembling the bags is a crucial step that requires a lot of patience and skill . The cut pieces are sewn together using strong threads, often nylon or polyester, to ensure long-term strength. Then we move on to our robust sewing machines for the main seams, for an impeccable result.
To ensure the robustness of the bags, reinforcements are added to stress points such as corners and edges. Zippers, buckles and fasteners are also selected for their durability and waterproofness. We add neat finishes, reflective strips for safety, labels woven in France, or elastics for a unique look and good versatility and organization.
Each bag undergoes rigorous quality control before being put on sale. In the workshop, the strength of the seams, the alignment of the parts, and the effectiveness of the closures are checked. This meticulous control ensures that each bag meets high standards of quality and durability.
Handcrafted manufacturing allows for great flexibility in terms of customization. Customers can choose colors, patterns, and specific details according to their preferences. This customization makes each bag unique and tailored to the individual needs of cyclists.

RICARDO VIEIRA-FOUNDER/DESIGNER/COUTURIER
Ricardo has been thinking for a long time about reducing his environmental impact, whether through his sporting practice of cycling, running, or in his everyday life, having decided to be vegetarian more than 20 years ago. Curious and passionate, he started creating and manufacturing his first objects when his grandfather gave him a sewing machine for his 17th birthday, and since then, he has worked to create, repair, and manufacture with the same energy and in the same direction, that of sobriety and localism. Convinced that the bicycle is the ultimate decarbonized solution for everyday travel, Ricardo decided to create Velocidade, and started designing and creating handmade bags, in a completely artisanal way.
